What’s the difference between CBD Oil and Hemp Oil?

There’s a lot of confusion and misinformation online about CBD oil. One of the most common misconceptions is that Hemp oil and CBD oil are the same product. It’s true that CBD can be extracted from the hemp plant. In fact, in most states that is the only legal form of CBD that’s accessible. However, just because an oil is extracted from hemp does not make it CBD oil.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol, one of the many Cannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant. Hailed for its potential to revolutionize industries ranging from pharmaceuticals to paper, CBD has become a top trending Google search term. Ironically, Google’s guidelines do not allow for marketing or promotion of any CBD related keywords. As a result, many of the top results for CBD related searches are for Hemp oil.

Although CBD can be extracted from hemp, not all Hemp oil contains CBD. The resulting confusion has led some CBD companies to refer to their product as Hemp oil for more favorable marketing opportunities, while some Hemp oil companies falsely portray themselves as CBD companies.

What is Hemp Oil?

Hemp oil, also known as Hempseed oil, is extracted from Hemp seeds. The process used to extract the Hemp oil is known as cold-pressing. As the name implies, the oil is extracted through pressing, typically using a hydraulic press. Although efficient at producing oil, Hemp seeds contain little to no CBD. Ultimately, Hemp oil finds its value in cooking or as a supplement.     Loaded with protein, good fatty acids, and Vitamin E antioxidants; it’s a great addition to a balanced diet. Like CBD oil, it will help foster a sound body.

Although Lynx CBD does support Hemp oil as a dietary supplement, it’s important to understand that the benefits of CBD will not be derived from Hemp oil. The presence of Cannabinoids are necessary to engage the human endocannabinoid system, which responsible for our bodies homeostasis. In order to take advantage of all of CBDs benefits, make sure to buy cbd oil from reputable online retailers who provide third party testing. Avoid any company that does not clearly label the THC content of their products, including dispensaries in states with legal medicinal and recreational marijuana laws.
